About Lou Longworth
Expressive abstract art celebrating nature - because your walls deserve a little happiness too!
Hello you - I’m Lou Longworth, an expressive abstract painter with a deep love for the wild and wonderful outdoors.
I’m at my happiest when I’m outside - walking along the canal, wandering through the woods, or just chilling out by a campfire… The colours, tranquillity and pure joy of nature are what inspire my paintings, bringing a little of that outdoor magic into my home and yours.

A LITTLE BACKSTORY
I grew up in South Africa (hence my weird accent when I say certain words), but I’ve lived in the UK for over 25 years now. My love for the outdoors has stayed with me though, and I’m just as happy exploring the British countryside as I was hiking in the bushveld.
Art was always my favourite subject at school, but life took me in a different direction for a while. Fast forward to 2017, and I found myself doodling again, which led to launching a greeting card business and playing around with digital art. Then, in 2023, I picked up a paintbrush and (oops) a full-blown painting obsession was born.

WHY I PAINT
For me, painting is like a mini escape - it's like a deep breath of fresh air or that feeling you get when you listen to a really good playlist.
I don’t set out to paint specific flowers, trees or landscapes, but rather try to capture the feeling they give me - the calm, the freedom, the little spark of happiness that somehow finds its way onto the canvas.
I create my paintings so you can bring that same uplifting, feel good energy into your own space. Each piece is inspired by my love of nature - flowers, gorgeous scenery, and that feeling you get when you’re outdoors somewhere peaceful.
My process is intuitive and playful, adding layers until it feels right, with the aim of creating something you’ll love having on your walls. I’m not trying to make overly serious art with deeper meanings or social statements - I’m here to make art that lifts your mood, makes you smile, and helps your space feel more like you.
Thanks so much for stopping by - grab yourself a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, have a browse, and see if anything sparks that little bit of joy in you too. I’d love my paintings to bring some happiness and inspiration into your home…
