Herts Open Studios 2025

I mentioned previously that I'll be taking part in Herts Open Studios this year, so here are the full details for you as well as a little bit about the other artists I'll be exhibiting with...

What is Herts Open Studios?

Herts Open Studios 2025 Brochure

Herts Open Studios is returning for the 35th year with artists exhibiting in venues across Hertfordshire. This annual event gives artists and makers a chance to open their studio doors, to meet visitors, talk about and demonstrate their work, and engage with art enthusiasts, collectors and anyone who is interested.

You can view or download a brochure that lists all the artists and venues taking part and when, or search the website for artists and venues near you, so you can plan whole days or weekends or even weeks of visiting various artists around Hertfordshire!

Where Will I Be?

As my 'studio' is just a tiny box room in my home, I'm joining four other local artists at Southern Maltings in Ware. You'll find it here:

Southern Maltings
Kibes Lane
Ware
Hertfordshire
SG12 7BS

Entry is free, it's a fab venue, with lots going on, and our artwork will be on display there from 6th to 28th September. It's always great to see paintings in real life to get the full impact of them, as well as meet the artists and buy directly from them!

We'll also be doing various arty activities which you can join in with if you want (or ignore if not!) There may even be a demonstration or two...

And on the last day we'll be having a little bit of a party so if you can make the 28th September as well please do!

There will always be at least one of the five of us around each day from 1pm to 5pm, though depending on what other activities are taking place we will be there at other times too.

If you want to visit and see any one of us in person, the best thing to do is contact that artist to find out exactly when they'll be there.

You can contact me here or via Instagram or Facebook. Email or Instagram is probably the safest if you want a quick response as I'm pretty rubbish at remembering to go on Facebook regularly 😆

About the Artists at Southern Maltings

Here's a little bit about each of us five artists that will be at Southern Maltings...

Wendy Creak artwork

Wendy Creak

My background in embroidered and printed textiles informs my painting in oils or acrylics. I love colour and prefer not to be limited to a particular topic, but to explore whatever I notice around me in an abstracted way.

Favourite topics include flowers and plants, everyday objects, inside/outside views, seascapes, landscapes and sunsets.

Dominic Murphy artwork

Dominic Murphy

Born in Sheffield, studied at St. Martins. Working primarily in watercolour on very varied subjects. “The underlying message of my work tackles the dream like weirdness of existence – no small matter! “

Victoria Palastanga

Victoria Palastanga artwork

Victoria Palastanga is a contemporary artist living in Ware, Hertfordshire.

She paints colourful emotive free form paintings including striking abstracts, evocative landscapes, and sumptuous dreamscapes. Colour is the theme that runs through them all. “Colour perfectly placed can breach people’s defences and make them feel something profound”.

Ware the Woman Went artwork

Ware The Woman Went

Nazanin Parsakia is an abstract artist passionate about exploring the emotional depth of colour, texture. Her work is driven by a love for textured surfaces, fluid movement, and the luminous beauty of gold leaf. Through layering techniques, fluid art, and gilding, she creates artworks that are both tactile and ethereal, inviting viewers to experience each piece in their own personal way.

and of course...

Lou Longworth artwork

Lou Longworth (that's me!)

I’m an expressive abstract painter with a deep love for the wild and wonderful outdoors. The colours, tranquillity and pure joy of nature are what inspire my paintings, bringing a little of that outdoor magic inside…

I'd really love to see you there, so please do come visit us!
